How do I change the mouse cursor

How do I change the mouse cursor in Gnome
I'm using Dreamlinux it's Debian based
But just tell me how it's done on Ubuntu and I should be able to figure it out

If I install a pack of mouse cursors through synaptic logout and back in and theres a new mouse cursor but it sucks
So how do I choose another one of the ones that came with the pack?

System > Preferences > Appearance. Then in the Themes tab, hit the Customize button, then go to the Pointer tab.

alright right click on your desktop and select "change desktop background"
then go to theme and click on the customize button.
then go over to the pointer tab and select one you like, even though i dont use dream the basics should be the same.
