I would like to suggest you DVD software that I personally use, that is Click DVD Copy Software. You can get all the great features in this and add a lot more DVD copying customization and flexibility. I had no problems in using it. It is easy to use and gives you superb quality output, amazing conversion speed and much more. Hope that this will make you satisfied.

    Cheers.

Wow even here possible spam to a windows app in a linux forum.
    Incredible.
To the original poster not sure how far you wish to go with the dvd copying but theres k9copy, k3b , dvd95 (copy a dual layer dvd to single layer dvd-5) as stated above the spam dvdrip
    All available in the repos.
For ease of use best you stick with either k9copy, k3b or dvd95.

For shrinking DVDs (from commercial DVD9 to the DVD5 you probably have), k9copy is awesome. Easy to use, but with the right set of features. I've tried DVD95, but it's just not as good.

If you want to get the movie off of the DVD, one of the ripping programs mentioned above will work. I've never done it myself, though.
I don't really mind, and it's starting to get to me.
