    After upgrading, xfce poses problems..

I upgraded to 8.04 yesterday, and have a couple of annoying issues pop up. First, after entering my user/pass on the splash screen, my computer will freeze unless I specifically pick "xfce session" from the session menu. If I choose "last session used" then it stalls. This happens everytime.

The other thing is the GDM window manager loads automatically when I boot into XFCE. I need to explicitly choose "let xfce manage the desktop" or run xfdesktop. It seems something else is getting in the way of my boot process, what is the natural way to troubleshoot this?
