It's not what you said. It was your tone. If you did not intend it to be perceived in a rude fashion then I apologize for my remarks. Constructive criticism is of course always welcome.

I agree 100% Lantesh! it's amazing how some people have the nerve to come here and bitch about something thats free! but anyway,I haven't owned a computer that i couldn't run Ubuntu on. Might have to do a little configuring once in awhile but to me thats worth a nice OS like Ubuntu.
    Ubuntu kicks a**!!!

What you are saying is that testimonials and experiences are welcome as long as they are positive. Might as well close this section down.

Hey I have no problem with the negative testimonials and I participated in your thread here.

    I'll recap what I said:
    1) Dell already makes laptops and desktops with ubuntu pre-installed. So you were wrong about that point.

    http://www.dell.com/content/topics/s...=19&l=en&s=dhs

A number of other companies also sell computers with ubuntu preinstalled. Google and you will find them.

So, are you coming back to ubuntu now? LOL- teasing you.

    2) The file system in linux is rock solid and backups are much less important than in windows where things randomly fall apart. Nevertheless, ubuntu has free file backup software already. In fact there are a number of them you can get free by clicking your mouse a couple of times. Here is a very easy to use example:

    http://www.ubuntugeek.com/simple-ubu...ckerupper.html

there are many more ways- search the forums and use google.

So you were wrong about that point too.

Basically, your opinion was based on facts that you were wrong about.

if people here are so bad, why dont you go hang out on the windows message boards? your responses arent going to change anyone. im tired of seeing you come on here and defending childish behavior. isnt it funny that you dont see linux users going to windows boards and complaining? we have better things to do. lastly, the chances of developers coming into this forum and listening to childish rants is small to none. it accomplishes nothing. if i went to a windows board with the attitude that some dissatisfied linux users have, i would be flamed 10 times worse. but i guess you have nothing better to do than complain about linux users responses to childish rants.

Exactly. It's called "Ubuntu Testimonials & Experiences", not "Ranting Without Any Useful Info That Might Help People Help You And Assumptions About The Whole State Of Ubuntu And Mainstreaming Based On A Single Experience I Had With One Specific Hardware".

Want to post a bad experience? Fine. Want to express how mad you are about it? Fine.

Want to ASSUME how other people's experiences are based on your own? Definitely NOT fine.

I hate Vista, but whenever I talk about it I mention its FEATURES I don't like. I had stability issues with it, but I know that this might be the fault of the drivers or the crappy-*** OEM install certain manufacteres make, so I avoid bringing the subject of stability up.

well said. if people would come in here with constructive criticism instead of childish rants, it would yield better responses. as it is, a thread starter that acts like a spoiled brat deserves the responses they get.

I bought a laptop with vista installed, it doesn't come with any "back-up solution" out of the box either.

OH! What a surprise. Another "I'm going to windows".
Sorry to be rude, but windows practically NEVER works-out of the box.
The first thing to make an usable windows box, is to install 148 drivers, then comes Anti-virus (and any other security apps) and then productivity software.

Sure, go ahead to your out-of-the-box world.
My apologies if i offeded someone.
