recently installed Kubuntu 8.04. my dell inspiron 6400's laptop hotkeys etc were all picked up. after some tinkering, something stopped my nice volume hotkeys working. i thought, Okay, KDE has loads of configs, its in there somewhere! so, i poked around for a while and then turned to the KMix notif area entry, and clicked it. i set the up and down volume keys again. They work just fine, except now there's no nice GUI that pops up to tell me how many % my volume is at. yay.

for a while i thought it was something had been changed in KMix, but after a reboot i noticed my mute button works [i had not set it before].. and shows the onscreen GUI telling me mute enabled/disabled. my volume up/down keys still do not show the onscreen GUI with the % info!

i can be obsessive sometimes.
but this is Linux, its supposed to be 100% configurable! i loved that display, and compiz gave it nice animations too =[

where are the bindings? the mute binding is not set in KMix...
