Have a Dell B120 laptop. Was running Gutsy (everything working fine) and upgraded to Hardy...

Wireless didn't work (found a fix) but the current problem is the screen changing the brightness by itself.

The gnome screen brightness icon will come on and adjust the brightness of the screen on its own. Doesn't seem to be related to anything, and doesn't matter if the laptop is plugged in or running on battery.

Also, when this happens there's a popping sound in the speakers.

Smallerdemon there posted a similar symptom with a Dell D600...(although that's not the reason for the thread).

Seems similar to some problems that others had with Gutsy...

Have turned off all dimming in Power Management, but it doesn't seem to have helped. Also have set the BIOS to maximum.

Hotkeys do work to adjust power (so may not be the same issue as all the folks who have hotkeys that don't work).

Power History shows on the "charge history" that it's going on/off AC power (which it's not).

Anyone have an idea what's going on (and if there's a fix?) Very frustrating to be surfing or typing and having the screen brightness constantly changing.
