Re: Need help with ATI drivers not working!!!!!

Sorry, I was busy for a while. It's hard to say what the problem is. The official drivers are installed fine, so it should work. Some last things to try is to append the SKIP_CHECKS to your compiz binary, as someone else mentioned:

    gksudo gedit /usr/bin/compiz
Paste in: SKIP_CHECKS=yes somewhere near the top of the file. Save and then:

    compiz --replace &

When I tested out the last command on my comp, (compiz --replace), it crashed my xserver, but it seems to work for a lot of people. Thankfully, Compiz seems to work fine on the open source ati driver, so you may want to try that as the last option.

Please read carefully what people post. The link i posted to the binary driver howto, and the instructions posted by others should resolve your issue.

We need the output of glxinfo|grep direct to make sure you have direct rendering and you should also try the SKIP_CHECKS fix that others have posted.

I hope that reading into this a little more helps.

Re: Need help with ATI drivers not working!!!!!

    I looked at your howto:

(sorry I hadn't done so before, I didn't see the link.)

    2 things-

1.When I try to install the binary drivers (after configuring) it replies-
bash: version: No such file or directory

2.I read ahead and it said to check if it was correctly configured run fglrxinfo in the terminal adn it should say
    Code:
    display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 3870
    OpenGL version string: 2.1.7170 Release
    if it is correctly configured

And it already says that, so it must have already done the steps he gave me automatically.
