Re: World of Warcraft - Ubuntu 8.04

I have the same problem as the above poster atm, but with the difference that it has worked for me under Ubuntu 8.04.

The only thing I have changed is that I removed "nvidia-glx" from synaptic and replaced it with "nvidia-glx-new". Since I did that, I get a "memory violation" error.

I'm going to reroll them now... I'll keep you posted.

Update: I rerolled to the previous drivers, and everything works fine now (even with desktop effects enabled it seems)

I now get same as I did in Opensuse. I haven't explored the whole world yet, but I think it's ok.

Hello, fellows! I'm running Wow on Ubuntu 64 8.04, with Wine. My problem here is that the game run "fine" but when I try to connect to any server, the game stop on the message "Connected". Could someone give me any light on this problem? I appreciate the atetion.

Oh, I almost forgot to post my system. It's a pentium 4 3.0 ghz, 1gb RAM, graphic card Geforce 7300SE with 512 mb. I had the last Wine (1.0) too.

Thank you for posting your solution to this! I'm using Hardy and I've been jumping through a few hoops in order to get WoW working, but it's worth it if I don't have to use vista.

Re: World of Warcraft - Ubuntu 8.04

I've got WOW working with the exception of the framerate. It's running at 2 FPS. Now granted I'm in Shat, but I can run through there fine on the same machine in Windows.

    Laptop info:
    Intel Core2 Duo
    2Gb RAM
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

    Any help would be appreciated.

Integrated Intel 945 graphics are a known fail in terms of WoW and wine. It's just not powerful enough to power the game on. Your best bet is to try with the opengl recommendation off (go with Directx by default), but I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope as I couldn't get it to work on my macbook's integrated video and it works fine in OSX and Windows on the same machine.
