    Hi John,

Don't know if you've found a solution or not yet, but you might want to try my solution. I too have an Atheros Wireless Card and it showed up in lspci but just didn't work.

You will need to find the drivers for you wireless card model - which you can usually do on Google.

Then take a look at this post:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...52#post4791552

I'm told this won't work for everybody, but its worth a try I guess.

Re: Cannot connect to wireless networks with Ubuntu

Thank you so much for your help, but sadly I still have the same problem

I still cannot see any wireless networks in the network manager.
    Any other suggestions?

    Thank you!

Re: Cannot connect to wireless networks with Ubuntu

So now after following the above advice, I am 99.99% sure that the drivers are all set. So if it isn't a driver problem, what can it be?
Thanks for all the considerations and advice, I've been struggling with this problem since 7.04.

Re: Cannot connect to wireless networks with Ubuntu

    More updates:
My wireless works perfectly in Windows vista (i'm dual booting) and when I hook my laptop up to the internet via ethernet cable, it works fine in Ubuntu.

I had this exact same problem in Ubuntu 7.04, and 7.10 and it still is unresolved in 8.04.

I have been struggling with this for days, can someone offer a suggestion?

    Thanks so much again.
