yess finally got my broadcom wireless working on ubuntu 8.04 hardy. heres a guide below tried to make it easy for u to understand :S
this is how i did it :- (mainly used the linuxwireless.org for guidance)
1) first install fwcutter, just open synaptic package manager and search for fwcutter, you need to install from your ubuntu 8.04 cd!
2) then download :-
http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources...0.53.0.tar.bz2
ok now open up a terminal and type the following
3) export FIRMWARE_INSTALL_DIR="/lib/firmware"
--------------press ENTER------------------
tar xjf broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2
--------------press ENTER------------------
cd broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0/kmod
--------------press ENTER------------------
sudo b43-fwcutter -w "/lib/firmware" wl_apsta.o
--------------press ENTER------------------
and this should install the driver and it should work.
to check goto system -> administration -> hardware drivers
and it should be ticked and say "in use"!
anyway this works for me.
