    POST EDITED:

I can't enable compiz(desktop effects could not be enabled), and it says that the ATI drivers aren't enabled, but they are in use.Is this normal?

When i run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" there isn't anything even REMOTELY related to my graphic card drivers, just keyboard layouts.

When i had a fresh install of hardy with no ati drivers, the effects were set to normal, and it had menu fading turned on. Can someone help me turn the desktop effects on?
