    lspci -nn

This should tell you! If it is not check out this link since it basically tells you where to download the windows driver for whatever version card you have:

Re: Broadcom Wireless Setup for Hardy (Step by step)

Finally, after three days and countless hours in search of a solution for this dreaded Broadcom issue I have found it. I really tried avoiding the ndiswrapper method because I wanted to try to get a native driver to work but all those methods failed miserably. Thank you for those clear and concise instructions.

Re: Broadcom Wireless Setup for Hardy (Step by step)

See this guide --- its a lot more comprehensive:

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...eisty_No-Fluff

The solution posted in this guide is a lot more elegant:
    Code:
    echo -e '#Hardy ssb/ndiswrapper workaround, added' `date` '\ninstall ndiswrapper modprobe -r b43 b44 b43legacy ssb; modprobe --ignore-install ndiswrapper $CMDLINE_OPTS; modprobe ssb; modprobe b44;' | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper
    Just read the guide!

Thank you very much for this. I had decided to give Ubuntu a try and for the life of me I could not get the wireless to work. This worked perfectly the first time I tried it.

Yes you will need an internet connection -- if not on the computer on another that you can transfer the driver file via USB to your ubuntu setup. That's how I did it (and still do) when I reinstall.
