What's the catch in using Xubuntu. It is faster then KDE and Gnome (as I understand) but what do I loose? Effects? Customization capacity? Less applications available?
There must be a catch...or are we reaching the utopia world?![]()

The Desktop hasn't that much functions and blinky tools and effects. But you can work with this also without any big problems.
You can use the same applications as in Gnome or KDE. So don't worry about that.
Thanks for the answers.
There isn't a catch, it's more that XFCE is an alternative to GNOME or KDE that some people like better and some don't. I'd say it's slightly more difficult to use, it's still not difficult to use but getting some things to work will take more effort (like adding new themes).
