    beatrIX and Ubuntu co-operation

    Hi,

There are still users who have old pc's.

How about co-operation between beatrIX and Ubuntu ?

One goal of Grumpy is an option for an antique/lightweight desktop. Maybe you could join forces on this one ? Maybe Ubuntu can learn from beatrIX. Maybe beatrIX developers want to help with the antique/lightweight desktop ?

I would like to quote myself from :

    Ubuntu blues

What about Grumpy's User Templates ?

    http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/GrumpyGroundhog

    Among these templates are :
-Antique desktop :minimum memory / processor requirements?

-Ubuntu Junior : Large icons. Access to games like tuxracer and applications like tuxpaint.

    -Ubuntu Game Station

it would be nice to make Ubuntu derivates and User templates the same thing. If someone wants a lot of games he installs "Ubuntu Game Station". Some volunteers could oversee which packages from the official ubuntu repositories would be installed. Those volunteers could also take up the job of getting a specific package into universe because they need it for their derivative/user template.

For example the guys from beatrIX could work on the user template Antique desktop if Ubuntu and BeatrIX would want that.

The Linuxtimes article doesn't take into our pre-release final, just released Thursday on Distrowatch.

As for working together, we certainly are open to suggestions. We love Ubuntu and it's rocking on this Opteron right now.

Come over to our homepage and you'll find my e-mail address at the bottom. I use a challenge/response spam filter, so you'd better be a real human and not an Electrolux vacuum cleaner. Just kidding.

Let's chat and see how we can help eadh other.

I'm not an Ubuntu developer. I'm just a nerd with an opinion . I hope someone from Canonical will read this.

I read the review of Bertix on Linuxtimes.net and it sounds ok. I think I'll download it when I get home. Mabye it'll make it into my "active live CD" rotation. Which at the moment consists of just Ubuntu live and Morphix...

While you're at that, can you see if XFCE 4.2 backports reallly run faster than GNOME on old systems?
