New install from CD alongside XP. All went well, but Ubuntu did not regognise:
    1. my D-Link DSL-200 USB external modem, ... so no internet. Have asked manufacturer whether Linux drivers are available for this modem and waiting reply; and,

    2. my Soundblaster Live Platinum sound card ... so no sound.

Meanwhile have uninstalled Ubuntu pending sorting out the modem problem and sound problems.

Angry Re: Share with the community your Hardy install/upgrade experience

    Hi friends,

Well, I downloaded the CD image, found that the md5sum hash was ok, burn the CD but I couldn't run it since it detected 41 files with errors. Strange because the md5sum was correct.

I also tried to burn another CD but I got the same problem.

I'll delete the ISO and try to download again, this time using torrent.

    Tenorio.

Everything fine but sound and for some reason it deleted all my avant window navogator themes and applets. Also it is uding GTK window decoration and would not let me use emerald.

    Otherwise GREAT !!

Hats off to DEVELOPERS for another world-class release

64bit upgrade worked without problems. After reboot, there was a crash that was detected. Sent the info to the developers. I had an issue with my mythbuntu install with 7.10. After the upgrade, mythbuntu seems to be working again. Sound seems better also.

Re: Share with the community your Hardy install/upgrade experience

Most of the process went well, but I had one problem:
Upon upgrade, my hard drives were renamed (ie: hda becomes sdb). This caused a problem because my /home directory is on my second hard drive. After I modified my /etc/fstab to match, the drive assignments switched on me again. I fixed it a second time, but I'm worried that this may continue.
Should I use UUID's instead? Is that more reliable?

Re: Share with the community your Hardy install/upgrade experience

After many attempts I changed servers using the select best server option. This allowed me to access the upgrade. Just finished the install and haven't had time to see if everything works. Will check back later with more info. Lee

    Update:
Ubuntu is never a disappointment. Each distro is more user friendly than the last. Haven't begun to test it properly, but so far it rocks. Installing upgrade on my 64 bit Athlon Laptop. Can't wait to see how it performs.

I have not had any problems with Hardy (clean install) and playing with it this morning I thought to myself that I am quite impressed with this release. I really like Feisty, never felt 100% about Gutsy but Hardy seems and feels solid.

    Congrats to all involved.

On my old IBM T40, the only way to get things working (read as booting) after the upgrade, is to select the kernel used by Gutsy Gibbon...
Doing so, all seem to be fine, even Pulseaudio and flash support!

Re: Share with the community your Hardy install/upgrade experience

    Completed the upgrade last night:

    1. Wireless networking no longer works and so far I've been unable to get it working. Wired networking is fine.

    2. There seem like there may be a problem with "Update Manager", but that's not verified.

Since this is on a laptop (dual-boot -- XP & Ubuntu) -- wireless is critical to me. If I can't get it working quickly, I'll have to go back (if I can figure out how to do that - I'm a linux newb if you can't tell)

Hm. Exaile is giving me high-volume white noise at pretty much every loud snare drum when I'm playing FLAC. Also, I nuked my Compiz settings but the red shadows stayed. I'm running in "Basic Compiz mode" now, which helps.

Got the mouse buttons to work right, so that's good.
