Suggested Partitioning for an External Hard Drive

I dual-boot Windows with Ubuntu 9.04 and I was wondering, could any of you suggest a good partitioning scheme to use on my external hard drive? I'm not talking about size, I was mostly wondering if I should make two primary partitions, or maybe two extended? Does that affect anything at all?

If you don't plan to have more than 4 partitions, then stick with the primary.]

p.s. You can only have one extended partition but many logical partitions under that extended partition.

Yeah, sorry, that's what I meant. Thanks.
