Howto: Install all (and latest) plugins of compiz-fusion

PROJECT ABANDONED! PLEASE LOOK HERE FOR THE NEW PROJECT!

!! This is installing the latest compiz-fusion which might be unstable !!

!! After installing, run compiz with fusion-icon (in application-menu) !!

!! If this script doesn't work for you, try this (original page) !!

First you have to remove compiz and all dependencies:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get remove compiz-core compiz-fusion-plugins-extra compiz-fusion-plugins-main compiz-gnome compizconfig-settings-manager libcompizconfig0 libdecoration0 compizconfig-settings-manager python-compizconfig emerald
    Then get compiz-git:
    Code:
    wget http://www.xs4all.nl/~mgj1/downloads/compiz-git_0.1-2_all.deb
    sudo gdebi compiz-git_0.1-2_all.deb
    And run it:
    Code:
    sudo compiz-git --install
    Result:

    If anyone gets this:

    Code:
    >> scripts <<

     * Cloning scripts
Initialized empty Git repository in /usr/share/compiz-git/scripts/scripts/.git/
    remote: Counting objects: 70, done.
    Receiving objects: 100% (70/70), 10.80 KiB, done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (66/66), done.
    remote: Total 70 (delta 23), reused 0 (delta 0)
    Resolving deltas: 100% (23/23), done.
     -> git-compiz script updated...Restart required!
....just run the script again... I got a bit confused at that point

It should take about 15 minutes to compile.

Nice howto btw! Hoping this works.

Shouldn't take too long on a Dual Core . Thank you for trying it, let me know if you run into any trouble!

It doesn't . That script worked perfectly! Are there any release notes anywhere? I'm not sure how get the second picture with the expose or whatever it's called.

    That's expo. Super + E.

It's all in the compiz-manager (in your menu, under preferences).

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I was looking for the Viewport Distance option to separate the different desktops.

im about to try this out, but before i do my i suggest that before you remove compiz etc etc that you run something like metacity --replace.
    cheers.

Shouldn't need to. Linux would store compiz in RAM so it will still work when you delete it.

Durand is right. However, if you activate a new plugin or disable one, I believe compiz will crash (but that shouldn't be a big problem).

in my experience its always best to have a window manager to fall back on if what you are trying to do doesnt work.
which luckily for me is a good thing seeing as im now about to try this for a second time as something must have gone wrong the first time, no compiz ? as in not installed ?
hey its all good fun though
