sound card to buy

I have a 680i nvidia motherboard (which is amazing and I highly recommend it) but I really hate the onboard sound. I am convinced that it sometimes makes my music tinny and doesnt properly play sound at all sometimes. I was just wondering if anyone could suggest a somewhat cheap sound card they have that is compatible with ubuntu. Thanks.
