been about 10 mins and the time goes down to like 20 mins and back up
i have the CD as well in case something gets messed and i backed up my home folder.
i have a feeling this is going to be pretty painless.
"Have you tried turning it off and on again? ... OK, well, the button on the side. Is it glowing? ... Yeah, you need to turn it on."

In my case, even if I could upgrade, I'll prefer to make a fresh install, because I've installed Ubuntu Studio 64-bit, and several things doesn't work in my box. About XMMS, I tried to use it, but I gave up because it has several compatibility sound bugs (the eternal ALSA-OSS issue), so I changed to Amarok - simply the best.
