Streaming video through firewire, with a twist...
Hi there. this is a weird one, even by my standards, so I apologise.
Basically, I'd like to be able to stream the video from a window that I'm working in to a DV capture box that I've got (or my mac, depends on which I've got turned on at the time).
Now, I can't use a standard screendump program and render it as video, because it's live 3D animation. An example can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O5DJTOy6EA (it starts to warm up around the 7 minute mark) - the only reason that I don't do the recording in same way is that I'm working with much more active visuals, and there are waaaay more polygons in what I'm doing.
So, any suggestions? If I end up having to use a camcorder, I will, but I'd rather that there be a neater way...
Up until now, I've been using framedumps, and stitching them together in mencoder, but it doesn't sync up properly with the music, because the framerate fluctuates too much
