    Hardy Heron Vs. HP Laptops

Has anyone tried installing 8.04 on a newer HP laptop? When I say newer, I mean preferably a dv9000 series. I've heard that it runs fine on dv6000, 4000, and 2000 series books, but the 9000 series has newer vid and wireless cards. I'm asking because I'd have to format an hdd to put 8.04 on, and I don't want to go through it unless I'm going to have an "easy" time installing it. I don't mind having to shoehorn here or there, but it's just not going to be worth upgrading if it's going to take a couple of wipes and/or a couple of weeks to get it working good, you know? Thanks for the assist

I've upgraded my Ubuntu 7.10 to Ubuntu 8.04 in my HP DV5218Nv about 1 month ago. I had just one trouble with my wireless devide, but it was enough uninstall B43 drive, reboot machine e re-install B43 drive. I don't know, but i've thought that graphics on Ubuntu 8.04 in my HP are slower than Ubuntu 7.10, however, i think that it's a opinion just me. My college has a Dell Vostro and Ubuntu 8.04 is very faster and stably!

I installed hardy 64-bit on my dv9500 and had fewer problems than with installing gutsy. I used the alternate cd, because my laptop had trouble with the gutsy live cd.

I had the beta working well on my laptop, but it broke severely when I upgraded to RC. Friend tried fresh install of 'final' Hardy on virtually same model and was happy for about 5-days. Now he's back on 7.10 like me. My opinion is wait.

    Cheers!
