TF2 Wine Problem

So I've been reading up on Wine and gaming. I recently tried and failed.
I've read all the tutorials, tried everything.
I've set up the registry, I've turned off Compiz, I turned off Steam Community, etc.
Problem is any steam game will start running, then crash.
I know lots of people have had this problem, but I don't know how to fix it. I'm using the newest version of Wine.

Assuming that you installed Wine with default settings, open a terminal and type the following:

cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Steam (I think that's the location of Steam... you may have to poke around for it)
wine steam.exe

and then launch Team Fortress 2 from the Steam browser.
