I have used Ubuntu for VHDL Programming in my engineering course. I hope that counts.
If you own a copy of 'Power System analysis and design' by Glover and Sarma, you get a free copy of Powerworld with their book. You can also download this online from here. Its for windows but works perfectly under wine.
I should mention that you don't need proof of purchase of the book when downloading it, they just ask for a name and email address. Downloading it like this wouldn't exactly be legal so... I'll let you fill in the blanks.
Imagination is more important than knowledge
I m in India and such facilities are not available for the international edition books here....
Hi, I´m learning VHDL, and I would like to use some graphic aplication for this under Linux. I´ve tried GHDL, but I wonder if there´s there any graphic app.
Also tried to install unsuccesfully FreeHDL, Symphony EDA Sonata, Alliance and XIlinx Webpack
And Altera´s Quartus Web Edtion under Wine, but none of this worked....
So, what did you use??
In 2 years, I will be engineer..
Sorry for the offtopic...
Greetting from México..
My company uses Ubuntu for the engineer's workstations. (I'm an engineer)
We run:
Altera / Quartus v7.2
Modeltech / Modelsim
and some ASIC synthesis tools.
Something changed in v8.04 and now Quartus just hangs. So we're sticking with v7.10 until either Altera or Ubuntu fixes the problem.
If I figure out the problem with v8.04, I'll post it.
For What It Is Worth:
We've used Ubuntu since v5.x, 6.06, and all versions in between. 8.04 is the first to break Altera / Quartus.
