    m new to ubuntu, very new..

    i downloaded "wine" from: packages.ubuntu.com, but do we have to download all the dependencies seperately?? or does the final package includes all of them??

    No, it does not include all dependencies.

    If you download manually, you have to ensure you have all dependencies.

    Why did you download from packages.ubuntu.com? Easier would be to use synaptic. System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager

    If you download from Synaptic, then all the dependencies will be automatically downloaded. If you download from packages.ubuntu.com, then you will have to make sure that the dependencies are downloaded and installed.

    but another problem was that i still not have installed my modem!! n anyways my connection is a very low speed, not at all suitable for downloading softwares!!

    m looking for packages to nstall my modem as well, its PCTel, HSP56 micromodem..

    if you have access to a ubuntu machine connected to the internet, you could select to install wine on that machine in synaptic, but when the dialog pops up, check 'download package only' or whatever it's called.

    that should get all the dependencies aswell, AFAIK. or you could look up all the dependencies by right clicking wine in synaptic and clicking properties.

    By not havng internet connection, what i meant to say is i have not installed my modem!! dint find those drivers too!!!

    n have no lancard!!

    I know, its a very very old configuration m using, but there should be some way to do it... Isnt it??

    Please help!!

    what i reccomend is install your modem, then worry about wine.
