    I do not see any reason it would not work in lucid, the basics of file systems / crypts / LVM have not changed.

    Yeah, it seems to be working right now. Is is supposed to take this long? I guess I'll let it do it over night.

    Depends on what step you are on and how large the partition is.

    But yes. if it started, let it run. You are much much more apt to have problems if you interrupt it now.

    On step two of resizing (shrinking), you said that in your case it was 4.3g, but how do I find out how much I need to remove? Thanks.

    What is the current size of your LVM ? What size do you want it to en up as ?

    Subtract those two numbers.

    Current = 10 Gb
    Desired = 6 Gb

    Reduce the size by 4 Gb.

    But it doesn't have to be shrunk the same amount as in the previous step? Sorry, I've never done anything like this.
