correctly if I am wrong but what Linux need is a simple to use collaboration software, which includes just about everything to connect everyone in the company wherever they are in the world.

I have been looking around for a solution @ work but every app seems like a complete minefield to upload and configure.

If there was something simple to use, upload an configure, I am sure this would be the killer app linux needs to make more popular in this area. I hate Microsoft and I don't want to be forced in to purchasing their crap when I can do it an a safer enviroment.

Also you don't know how desperate I am to set up a simple mail server @ work, and provide a front end for mail, so users can login and check email without having to use a remote machine. I know there are plenty around, but what I don't want to hear from people at work, is that it does not look or work like Outlook / Outlook express. You know what it is like.

Again do you know of something easy to install and configure.

I don't see why you couldn't just do it in the "cloud". Google has it all covered and there are others who offer similar web apps. Unless you are sharing extremely confidential work, a password is a password.

Don't expect Linux to do anything for you if you are not willing to do anything for Linux.

If you have a suggestion for software, then 'SUGGEST IT'. Don't expect it. Work with people and try to develop this helpful tool. Don't expect miracles to fall from the clouds from something you got for free

Collaboration software? You mean something like Zimbra, or Open-Xchange, or Groupwise? There's probably a whole host of others I'm forgetting.

All of those will provide e-mail, shared calenders, shared documents, etc.

Another collaboration tool that might help you is a wiki. Twiki is aimed towards the enterprise, and so is probably a good bet. However, like more traditional collaboration software, there's a ton of stuff out there.

In short, there's a lot of Linux-based stuff out there for business. You could also look at collaborative CRM systems, or document management systems, or project management or whatever else it is you're looking to collaborate on.

negative attitudes also get on my nerves, you are doing the exact same thing they are doing (but you do this with anger, they don't)

let someone else reply and help the guy out if you don't want to.

Also, we are enough around here, you don't need to be 24/7 tech support for all the noob questions (yes, it can drive us insane). Take a day off or 2
