Ubuntu FTP - how long, and how detailed...

    I am talking about this:
    ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.ubuntu.com/releases/
It is a FTP that allows you to download *all* the ISO's of *all* the versions of Ubuntu so far. *It offers:
    • Everything from 6.06 to 7.10, including:
    • Server & Desktop versions
    • AMD64 & Intel i386 versions
    • Alternate & Regular CD's
My question is, how long is this going to be available to the public, and if forever, how many versions will be kept on here? 4, 5, 6, all of them? I can only hope they are all kept, but if there is plans to keep it down to only 4, I would like to know so I can grab them all quick

Torrents are always there if you don't want to grab them now. Besides, I don't really think you need any of the older versions before LTS. Ubuntu gets better with time.

That's true, but there's something about 6.06 that I really like, and it's great as a live CD for some reason... I found the 3D was faster slightly on it as well...

I think the main reason is because I just like to collect things

How is that different from the standard download pages?

Standard pages don't have versions before Dapper I think.

This tutorial will show you how to download the repositories for your various distributions.

Sad news though: the repositories for versions before 6.06.1 are gone. So the old setups won't find anything they can download other than what's on the actual setup CD.

If I'm incorrect about this, somebody please tell me. And if the repositories are indeed available for older releases of Ubuntu, I could include those in my tutorial.

    Thanks

It is possible to find the first ever distribution of linux released online. shortly before debian and slackware were begun. If I ever stumble across it again I might load it in virtual box for a laugh. I have a hurd live CD that booted through VMware when I used that for a while. Good fun.

It takes forever to find what you want with Ubuntu...here are the non-standard distribution releases: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/
