24. ubuntu to learn more about linux itself.
dual booting: apple + ubuntu = flawless
virtualizing....arch linux, sabayon and backtrack.
. ..Unix-Like.. .
Age: 17
Use: Windows likes to kill my computer with extra crap and on top of that McAfee likes to do that same. Ubuntu only has few processes running and no need for anti-virus. Finally, I can play games, surf the net, check e-mail, code, and listen to music with no worries of lag. Windows is not as customizable as Ubuntu and Windows is a pain in the *** to deal with. Go Ubuntu .
I'm fifteen years old.
I became an Ubuntu user about three weeks ago by accident... I was only going to use it temporarily to backup all my files, and there were some serious start-up issues with XP. I tried to partition my only 40gb hard drive... Alas, it turns out I should really read up on how to do things, because I accidentally erased everything on there; music, movies, essays, programs (Photoshop!), pictures - argh!
So I threw myself into Linux with vengeance and tried my best to understand it all. So far I've done pretty well. I've worked out that pesky ipv6 thing in Firefox, how to install Flash & Java, simple commands to use in the terminal... The forums are heaven sent when I'm marooned in my little boat of inexperience amongst the high seas of endless questions
All I use it for at the moment is general web browsing and playing an album off my USB stick, and I may switch back to Windows soon (just because I've grown up with it from the age of 7 and it's familiar ). Sometimes I miss the simplicity of just reading a guide & installing some magical thing that fixes things for me, but I think I should step out of the box sometimes and learn something new. In the mean time, Ubuntu is great for doing simple things, and it's nicely laid out. Pleasure to use so far.
I'm 14 and I use it for everything. I don't even have windows anymore. Work, games (mainly Battle For Wesnoth), watching movies, internet, chatting, etc...
The only problem is Open Office's Impress. All presentations I make from it look really bad (and sometimes hard to understand). But hey, Microsoft Presentation works on Linux if I ever buy it.
I'm a newbie... all help appreciated.
I'm 16. I use Ubuntu mainly for surfing the net, listening to the Music and scrobbling (Last.fm + Rhythmbox), watching movies, web design.
Unfortunately Ubuntu is not that friendly with PC Games T^T
I'm 21 and use Ubuntu mainly for the development of my final year project. Only not long ago I started using it and got totally hooked. Still a proper noob when it comes to Linux though lol
