The Athlon 64 x2 4400+ is a better processor. Not only does it clock at 2.2 GHZ compared to the Intel 1.8 GHZ, but here is a good list of comparison tests with both of those procs included. The AMD chip outperforms that Intel chip. There are some areas where the E2160 does better, but overall, it's the 4400+.

I put my money where my mouth was. Just picked up a 2.2ghz dual pentuim, motherboard, 2gig pc6400, and case with power supply for $190 at Fry's with $50 in rebates ($20 for the case, $30 for the mem). How can I possibly beat $140 for that? Toss in a $70 sata drive and $35 dvd burner and Ubuntu and life is good. You sure you want to buy a pre built? It is darn easy to put together a system.
