Have a look at Second Life. They have a teen-oriented world.

Mediax - Yeah, I had come across that site a while ago, and it looked pretty cool for a socializing/fantasy kind of thing. Like a far advanced IM program, haha

It's possibly sexist, but not necessarily.

Are you familiar with the research of Brenda Laurel?

I had the pleasure of seeing her keynote at CHI '98 in Los Angeles, and was very impressed with her sensitivity to gender differences and her approach to designing games specifically for girls.

Laurel's research is far too broad to cover here, but some of her findings were very illuminating, summarized in her TED talk her:
    http://www.ted.com/talks/brenda_laur...for_girls.html

In short, it wasn't Barbie she was aiming for, though it's a sad irony that in a market so dominated by Mattel Laurel's company, Purple Moon, was ultimately acquired by the Mattel juggernaut.

While Purple Moon may have been a financial failure, I believe Laurel's goals and the research supporting them still provide valuable guidance for those wishing to expand markets for entertainment software.
