Hey I have CounterStrike:Source downloaded everything works fine except it lags before when I used to play in WIndowsXP it was smooth. Is it possible to make it go faster?

I've done and forum search and just did again most topics are about installing CS:S which I already did I just want to know how I can make it faster.
