[SOLVED] My Guide to changing the Theme of WINE

For those of you who, like myself, doesn't like the Classic Windows colour, then help is at hand.

First in the Terminal or Konsole, type in winecfg

This should bring you up to the WINE configuration screen.

Now go on the Desktop configuration tab and you can install windows themes and use them for your WINE theme. Or you can create your own theme

Only thing is, this slows down wine extremly much, and to even be able to use this function in wine with a little slower computers, you have to wait until wines support for windows themes is alot better.

    Errrmm... not really.

I've not seen any theming cause any slowdown on any of the systems I've ever used.

WINE doesn't really need better support for ***dows themes as they are quite trivial on a Linux system.

Re: My Guide to changing the Theme of WINE

Well, the Ubuntu team said so according to this article: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post...er-summit.html

"Many other details will have to be addressed as well. Wine's support for Windows theming is currently too buggy to be used by default, but if it is fixed within the next six months, then the Ubuntu developers might want to create a Windows theme that matches the default Ubuntu theme so that applications running in Wine will fit in with the rest of the system. Improved Firefox integration is another goal for Hardy Heron."

And okay, they didn't say that wine slows down, they just said it was buggy, but when I have tested it, it was really, really slow. So, sorry for that.
But it is buggy for alot of people, maybe not for you.

the best way to customise the look of wine is install a color change program called 3d color changer lets you change the color scheme of wine without any additional overhead.

Ok, so changing the theme 0f WINE is dodgy, but you can still change the colours.
