What causes MythVideo (internal player) to choose the wrong aspect ratio?

Is it a function of the codec mis-reading the file? or more likely the file having been recorded in a certain codec that isn't actually installed, and the nearest codec being chosen to play the file and it doesn't know how to get the aspect ratio right?

How do I add more codecs to my mythbuntu?

Is this consistently happening on all shows? What are you expecting to see happen, and what is happening exactly?

Eg, 4x3 show, and its being stretched or something?

Can you possibly upload a sample that can be tried?
