Wireless USB Stick - WG111v3 - Installed but drops out
I've managed to get the above working. I have one problem, the connection keeps dropping out. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to resolve this?
I've noticed people have been struggling to get as far as me - so here is how I did it: Open Terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) Code:
wget http://easynews.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper-1.49.tar.gz wget http://www.avengergear.com/upload/WG111v3.tar.bz2 tar xvvf ndiswrapper-1.49.tar.gz tar xvvf WG111v3.tar.bz2 cd ndiswrapper-1.49 make sudo su - (enter your password) apt-get remove ndiswrapper-common apt-get install build-essential make install ndiswrapper -i ../WG111/WG111v3.inf depmod -a modprobe ndiswrapper ndiswrapper -m exit exit ----------- Teaching worth taking the time over: www.sermonsfortoday.org Last edited by jonathanpeter; February 25th, 2008 at 05:01 PM.. Re: Wireless USB Stick - WG111v3 - Installed but drops out
More information:
It drops out when I encrypt the network. If the network isn't encrypted it works fine. Any thoughts? |

Re: Wireless USB Stick - WG111v3 - Installed but drops out
Every time I try(using ndiswrapper-1.49) I get this:
Code:
root@paul:~# ndiswrapper -i ../WG111/WG111.v3.inf couldn't open ../WG111/WG111.v3.inf: No such file or directory at /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper line 219. root@paul:~# |

Re: Wireless USB Stick - WG111v3 - Installed but drops out
You've got the filepath wrong. Which directory did you unzip the driver to? If you were following my instructions, it should have been:
ndiswrapper -i ./WG111/WG111v3.inf I think. |

Re: Wireless USB Stick - WG111v3 - Installed but drops out
I copied directly from your posts.
I've had this problem every time I've tried to use ndiswrapper with every version I've tried. |

PaulStr, install the 'ndisgtk' GUI installer, that should make it easier.

Re: Wireless USB Stick - WG111v3 - Installed but drops out
I'll try that.
[EDIT] I tried ndisgtk and it told me that the driver was already installed. I followed through with the rest of the procedure and it's still no dice. Last edited by PaulStr; December 27th, 2007 at 12:43 AM.. |

Re: Wireless USB Stick - WG111v3 - Installed but drops out
If the driver is installed, sounds like the device cannot be found. What happens when you do:
sudo modprobe ndiswrapper ? Also, which version of WG111 hardware do you have? I know theres lots of different versions. Another suggestion: You could try removing the existing WG111v3 driver and install it again. |
