    Subchannel reading and caching can be enabled in the ePSXe CDROM options (Configure -> CDROM). Most games that don't display that green "The unauthorized reproduction of all or any part of..." nag screen need that option.

    Config --> Cdrom doesn't have any options for me. Just an input line to specify the device location. Then the OK and Cancel buttons.

    UPDATE: Used genisoimage. The created ISO still produces just a black screen.

    Code:
    * Memory handlers init.
     * ePSXe: PSX BIOS loaded [/usr/local/games/epsxe/bios//SCPH1001.BIN].
     * Loading ISO Format [BIN/IMG2352] ok
     * Force NTSC cdrom detected.
     * Init gpu[0][libgpuPeteXGL2.so.2.0.8]
    ATI Technologies Inc.
    ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600
     * Open gpu[0]
     * Init spu[0][libspuPeopsOSS.so.1.0.9]
     * Open spu[0]
    Then nothing. Can't even disable the stupid text at the top (frame rate, etc.).

    New research shows this response to all my PSX games. I hadn't thought to try other games because I wasn't planning on playing any other games. But their discs and ISOs get the same respective inactivity.

    Sorry about that config thing. I had forgotten that ePSXe had this only in Windows.

    Anyway, did you try any other programs to make those images? It is highly important that you make that program read the subchannel data. Dunno if genisoimage is the right software for this.

    Any other ways of activating subchannel reading? And what iso program would you suggest?

    Actually, had always used CloneCD for this job... And in the last two years while I've been using Linux, there weren't any new games to make ISO files of.

    If you are having problems with more then just 1 game, my guess is that it isn't the image. I would sugest that you try PcSX and PSX projects and see if they work while this one doesn't. If they do, It may be time to play with the plugins. It might be worth your while to try a software rendering plugin to see if it might be an issue with your video.

    He said that the BIOS screen ran fine. This must be a CDROM issue.

    Did you try asking a friend to make a CloeCD image of one of those CDs. Your drive might not be able to extract those CDs properly. Don't forget to activate subchannel reading.

    Re: Install ePSXe Playstation Emulator (Version 2)

    I made a CloneCD and it didn't do anything differently. I didn't find any instructions how to make an ISO using CloneCD, so I tried Alcohol120%. Again, no success. The filetype attached to it is .mdf, but I read that it's the same thing as an iso. Any advice? Please give directions to creating ideal iso files if necessary. Maybe I will investigate other emulators.

    This is so damn frustrating.
