Battlefield 2, need help.

I want to get battlefield 2 working and so I done the obvious and first installed it under wine. The install seemed to work fine which I was happy about, but when trying to start the game it seems to load, goes to a black screen for a couple of seconds, then crashes back to the desktop with out bringing up any error.

I understand most people here probably have never even tried to install battlefield 2 and have no idea what is going wrong, but I was still wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. Ive read the first post at the start of this thread, I have a look at the wine wiki, but like with most linux things you have to know what you are doing before anything makes sense. I've never managed to get any game working under wine so I really have no idea where to start.

So, any pointers?
