thanks... i hope this version will work for me... i have a strange crash just when i start a video call... if i chat or just stay online everything is OK...

but as soon as i video-call someone, the program just closes

does everyone have the same video/call quality between linux-linux and linux-windows/mac ? or are there abnormalities?

EDIT: just checked, the same bug still exists... as soon as i video-call someone, the skype window closes :S

Close Skype and then open it from a terminal window. Then test it on a video call. It should give some error message.

sorry for late reply i did start skype from terminal, but forgot to include the error message

    the error i got was:
    Code:
    Starting the process...
    Illegal instruction
after which the skype closes... there are no other messages when starting skype from the terminal... only these 2 lines

btw - i'm running fluxbuntu RC (gutsy based) latest updates...

ps. tried starting skype with sudo (just to be sure) and yes, i get the exact same error
pps. the cam i use is logitech quick cam (works perfectly with motion etc)

Good news here ! The latest beta (2.0.0.27) solves the well known gspca crash after 1 minute of use, with my camera (logitech stx).

Many thanks to the skype team!

Just to add a bit here... I have Skype version 2.0.0.27 and am able to video call with the Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro. All seems to work well.

EDIT: Maybe I spoke too soon... I rtied it with another teacher here at school, who did not have a camera. Video from my desktop to hers worked well. I tried it last night from home, and sending video from me was fine, but I was not able to receive video. I tried just running Metacity, instead of Compiz, and it did not improve. So, the final result is... it sorta works for me.

Calls work flawlessly on HP v5000 laptop.

1 minor issue is that you cannot have teamspeak open and make a skype call. it gives an error about ur audio device.

i dont have webcam so yeah

    Hi

I have a LG LIC-200 webcam, it's using the gspca driver.

The cam works on ekiga, but on skype it shows only a black screen when i click the test button.

    Anyone solved this problem?

Have a look to the dedicated wiki (first post on this 3rd)
then search for your camera and find out the current status (if one)
If you can't find your camera, would be nice if you can add your information.

    Cosimo.
