Basic Unix Commands

I've been seeing people referring to (sometimes with reverence) these 'basic' unix commands like grep and awk, is there some sort of really ultra awesome easy beginners guide with flashing lights somewhere? By the sound of things these commands seem to be useful.

Many sites on the net. Google is your friend on this. "Linux Commands"

Just a few:

LinuxCommand.org: http://linuxcommand.org/

Ubuntu's Using the Terminal: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Us...UseTheTerminal

Linux Bash Commands: http://www.ss64.com/bash/ (Also avaialbe by typing man in a terminal) Ex: man cp : lists syntax of the copy command.

This page you provided is nice... in fact I will bookmark it. However let it be known that many, if not all of the commands listed, are not just relegated to the bash shell, but can be used in other shells as well.

Here's a good link for a Bash tutorial that I reference on occasion: http://tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/
