Is there a way to install system sounds in Xubuntu?

I just installed Xubuntu. Everything seems fine, but the system is curiously silent. I don't get the opening drum sound, nor a login or logout sound. Maybe it's because I installed from the alternative CD distro.

Is there a way to reinstall the system sounds in Xubuntu? Remember, it's Xubuntu, not Ubuntu, therefore I don't have the useful Admin > Sounds tool (and yeah, I did find my computer in the garbage).

By the way, ALSA and sound is OK.

just do:
apt-get install ubuntu-sounds

then enable system sounds in xubuntu settings.

(For Karmic (italian) the menù entry is "Aspetto")
