    Mp3 --> Flac

    Does anyone know how I can convert my mp3 songs to flac? A tool or program with a GUI because I know how to convert in CLI but it only works song by song and I've build up a collection of about 1 TB of songs, all mp3s at 320 kbps, because I wanted all the quality I could get from an mp3.

    Recently my father told me that he finds flac to be a better format for songs and it's supported by my car's CD/MP3 player, and after I've compared some songs on different sound systems I've come to agree with my dad.

    So, if anyone knows how I can convert/encode multiple mp3 files to flac, preferably using a nice GUI (although any GUI or CLI will do as long as I don't have to convert 1 song at a time) please help.

    Thanx! I'll try it later tonight... Do U happen to know one for Gnome? Sorry if I'm asking too much, but my dad has a tool in Windows and I'm trying to prove to him that Linux is better and has anything U need for free

    100% pointless.

    The FLAC will sound 100% the same as whatever the source is, in this case an MP3. The FLAC will also have a whole lot more bitrate.

    FLAC is great, ONLY if the source is lossless to.

    Re: Mp3 --> Flac

    I understand what you mean... I know flac sounds only as good as the original (in this case an mp3) but flac can be played on a freshly installed Linux OS, while to get mp3 support I need an internet connection (no point in downloading packages since you can get the latest from the web) which might not always be available.

    so it only is 99% useless

    but 1 % is enough for me to be worth trying.
