Slow wireless and wired internet Ubuntu 7.10

Hi! Installed Linux recently and Internet works fine at the office, but with my home WLAN it's quite another story. I have a 11G Wireless ADSL router 54MB, and have tried to connect to internet both with and without "wire". Loading web pages takes about 20 sec. Internet works fine with Windows though.

I've tried to read all the posts but I'm hoping that it colud be easier to fix than with Ubuntu 7.04. If anyone have any ideas please reply. This is what i get when i type:

iwconfig :

Re: Slow wireless and wired internet Ubuntu 7.10

I Upgraded to Gutsy and there is a delay in http of about 20 seconds then works by bursts

strangely the 'link download' (with DownloadThemAll extension for example) does not have the same problem

Should I reload my 7.04?

Re: Slow wireless and wired internet Ubuntu 7.10

Same here. Upgraded to Gutsy today and my wired network is very slow. I'm no networking expert, but I ran Wireshark to see if anything jumped out at me.

I'm seeing lots of messages about incorrect checksums in nearly everything I am sending? Anyone know if that's normal or not? Doesn't sound normal. Looking closer it only seems to be happening in HTTP and DNS traffic with my IP as the source.

for the wireless, did you put in your wep passphrase as the actual word - I did all kinds of stuff before I remembered that.

Re: Slow wireless and wired internet Ubuntu 7.10

I have the same problem also with my wired connection after installing Gutsy 7.10 on it , first i thought something is wrong with the network configuration , but it isn't .
i installed fresh Gutsy on my laptop also and its the same problem , slow internet as hell
What should we do in this case filling a bug report or what ?????!!!!!!
I'm thinking of a hidden security program or a firewall in Gutsy that making the connection so slow ...
I was using feisty fawn with a fast connection but with gutsy ???!!!!!
But I'm sure they are going to solve this issue as so many people are complaining about it.

Re: Slow wireless and wired internet Ubuntu 7.10

I did some more testing:

the problem exists also from the 7.10 RC live CD (shows how much I trusted ubuntu before installing it: i did not test the 7.10 RC fully, obviously)
it does not exist in the 7.04 live cd/ install

the wait before displaying any page 'feels like' a DNS problem caused by some security mechanism new to 7.10

hope this helps
