I would say at least 9.8/10 I never give anything a 10 But it's still the best It just keeps on getting better and better so I might rate it a 10 someday...
Here's my rating:
Compared with the current compotition: 5 stars. Windows is only alive (on my computer) for games.
Over Feisty Fawn: 4 stars. A lot changed, but needed a little more...
It's a solid release IMO.
When I first go into Ubuntu I thought "They could make it better". Then with 7.04 I though, "other than 3D, this is done." With the better look and all the improvments I did not think of, like printer support, 7.10 just blows 7.04 out of the water. I really have high expectasions for 8.04.
9/10. Not 10/10 for a couple of reasons:
- I had to change my xorg.conf and mess about with the graphics settings just to have a non-warped resolution.
- The servers are taking a hammering 9 hours after release and are still incredibly slow. Maybe some better servers next time.
- There is no proper built in Compiz manager or settings editor by default.

I'm totally amazed. Gutsy has fixed just about every problem I had with my HP dv6500t. Everything works pretty much out of the box, whereas almost nothing did with Feisty. Except sound, but that was extremely easy to get working compared to what I had to do in Feisty. Right now I'm thinking 11 out 10.

9/10, for speed, ease of use, new features. If only wireless roaming worked properly it could have been a 10...
Can I give it a -1 or a 0? Why not? I protest against this discrimination.
Ok, kidding aside, I'll give this 8/10..
A very good distro, but suspend doesn't work, which used to work in Feisty (yes, I did put in a bug report).
- I give it an 8/10 as I am having similar problems with X (still unresolved) and a few other minor things. None of the problems existed in Feisty.
- The servers are slow because so many people are trying to get it. The quality of the servers and mirrors wouldn't make a difference if there are tens of thousands of people all trying to download at the same time. If you use the torrent downloads instead of the direct downloads, it takes less than 20 minutes to download (at least it did for me).
- The Compiz thing is a bit annoying, but I didn't hold it against Gutsy, since the config options that are available satisfy most users' basic needs and there is a "power user" configuration manager that can be installed after the fact.
All in all, I think Gutsy is a big step in the right direction for Ubuntu in particular and Linux in general. Considering the improvements we saw with Feisty and now with Gutsy, I can't wait to see what Hardy offers in April.
BTW - I'm really curious as to who gave it a 3 but didn't have the nerve to post and justify that rating
