Looking for a native doom guide

I looked around abit, but didn't find any for DOOM So if anybody would be kind enough to link me to a guide for installing DOOM 1 natively I would really appreciate it. I just couldn't get programs like zdoom and gdoomsday working... I have the .WAD files so that isint a problem.

    http://doomsdayhq.com

Get the tar.gz for linux and compile it. (there should be compile instructions in it) then you need to go to the doomsdayhq wiki (it's down right now but should be back up a bit later) to learn how to install snowberry.

you could also use a script like this to start doomsday
    Code:
    /usr/local/bin/doomsday -game jdoom -iwad /home/dave/DOOM2.WAD

using zdoom/skulltag is super simple on linux. i'd recommend skulltag in particular.

    1. grab the ubuntu base version from the skulltag download page.
    2. extract it anywhere you want. put the wad(s) in ~$HOME/.skulltag or the folder you extracted st to.
    3. run st.

Is Skulltag limited to i386 architecture?
Nothing happens when I run the executable.
I don't seem to be having any luck getting any current doom port to work.
