    webcam as projector

Has anyone ever tried using a webcam and video projector with a laptop to project student writings upon a screen?

I'm at a school with little equipment, but they furnish a projector for any teacher who has their own laptop. I need to project the students writing on the big screen for markup in a grammar class (and clipped articles and such).

I've never used a webcam, I know faces are fine, but would a webcam pick up the print if I rotate the camera down and use proper lighting?.

Also, what is the best webcam to install with ubuntu feisty?

    This should work just fine.

I used a Webcam to take photos (up close) of jewelry (which is notoriously difficult to photograph).

In experimenting with getting my solution to work, I often put pages beneath the camera and could read them very well. Projecting them onto a "Big Screen" should work fairly well.

You'll probably want a small table lamp and a 3-sided cardboard box.

Mount the camera inside the box looking down onto the table.

Also, mount the small reading lamp or some-such on the box pointing down.

You'll need to experiment a little to get everything just right, but it should work fine.

Then, simply use the program "Camorama" along with your projector hooked up to your video out and you should be good-to-go!

    Thanks gbutler69. I'll give it a try.
