Smile Mac4Lin ver.0.2 - Mac OS X Leopard Transformation pack

Mac4Lin version 0.2 Released!

17th September 2007

I am happy to announce the version 0.2 release of the Mac4Lin Project. Version 0.1 alpha has received an overwhelming response. People have used and liked it and the downloads (as on this day) have touched about 6GB!!! Lots of comments/suggestions/bugs were received and I have tried to iron out all the bugs known till this day. This update also brings a whole lot of new things. See the changelog for changes.

Special thanks to Victor of vsdigital for provding the Firefox Safari Skin and thanks to everyone who tested the version 0.1 alpha. Because of all this I'm giving version 0.2 stable to this release. Keep visiting the project website for more updates.

Apply it, flaunt it, enjoy it!

Is it Compiz Fusion compatible?

Re: Mac4Lin ver.0.2 - Mac OS X Leopard Transformation pack

yes, it is. compiz/beryl is kinda pre-requisite for all the effects of mac os x. even if you don't haf them, the only things that will not work is the emerald theme (the gtk theme will suffice then) and the avant-window-navigator (the simdock package can be used in its place). so all this works even widout any composite manager. but to get full mac os x like effects its better to haf them installed.

Re: Mac4Lin ver.0.2 - Mac OS X Leopard Transformation pack

Nice! Here's my old OS X theme btw: http://ryanlesterstore.com/ubuntupwnx0rs Anyways, great job, but I have a suggestion: if possible, include the Macmenu applet (configured for transparency), to further emulate OS X: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...&postcount=532 EDIT: nevermind, just read your entire original post. Also, I made a distributor-logo in Gimp that is pretty close to the one used in Leopard (the one currently in use in the theme is just an OS X logo that happens to be black): http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/9...orlogolqd3.png. Maybe you could include that as well (I know it looks a little blurry, but it's fine when zoomed out). More suggestions: a cursor theme and a usplash theme. Here is a good usplash theme taken from Taimila's guide: http://www.taimila.com/files/usplash-osx.tar.gz, and a 16:10 version I made is attached (plus a 16:9 version for that occasional 16:9 monitor user).
Attached Files
File Type: gz usplash-osx-wide.tar.gz (14.3 KB, 1213 views)
File Type: gz usplash-osx-16:9.tar.gz (12.9 KB, 897 views)

Re: Mac4Lin ver.0.2 - Mac OS X Leopard Transformation pack

@dotweb
just untar (extract) the files you downloaded from the mac4lin project website. it'll extract individual components. the install instructions for each component is included in the respective folders.

thanks buu700, i'll be including your distributor-logo and the usplash theme in the next update. regarding gtk mac menu hack, you've already read about it.

as far as the cursor theme is concerned, i'm unaware of what actually is used in the real Mac OS X Leopard. Hence i've stuck to the original Mac OS X cursors in this release. suggestions would be welcome

nice tiger emulation, buu700...

20th sept. registered 491 downloads wid 4.2GB of data served. so in just 2 dayz the downloads haf crossed 8.2GB!!! whoa!! much beyond my expectation!!! thanks to everyone total data served (both ver.0.1alpha and ver.02 combined) till this day, this time has crossed 17.2GB!

ps: some users wid high resolutions laptop screens haf given the feedback that the battery icons are too small. i'm working on that now. also haf a new black, bit sunken apple logo for the panel and a mac usplash theme in the pipeline (thanks to buu700 and everyone who contributed to the project)
