Tovid really is great. I've been searching for a tool like this for almost a month, Im glad I found this great tool.
anyways, Why some avi's when converted to mpeg looses it sound? I think the avi is divx. I have this movie.avi (dont know if its Divx or what) and It worked when I convert it to mpeg, but the movie2.avi I converted worked as an mpeg but it does not have sound..

Sounds cool, I'm getting a bit tired og Qdvdauthor.Originally Posted by sapo
Did you install the Debian packages from http://packages.kirya.net ?
And a bit off topic question, is this "safe", I'm comming from the "unsafe" win32 platform, that's why I'm a little concerned about inserting experimental repositories into my sources.list. Could it include malicious code?

Hehe you really took this topic out of the grave.. i posted it some months ago.. latelly i dont have time for this kind of thing.. i dont know how is tovid right now
Sorry about that But it was almost at the top in the search list I had, searching on "?" Damn forgot the topic..Originally Posted by sapo
I read some of the other posts about Tovid and DVDstyler.
DVDStyler 1.5, I was unable to install, due to some dependency problems.
I'll try Tovid, when I get home from work...

I like tovid, but prefer it on the command line where you have more options. The GUI has never worked for me, and on the command line you can run tovid-batch easily - and convert hundreds of videos at once to any format.
I documented this and other tovid and video conversion tips for ubuntu linux in my video help page.

Cool thanx, always nice to have people contribute such work.Originally Posted by jtpratt
But once again, this topic is rather old, and I've already moved on, I found a way to get dvdstyler installed, and that has worked perfectly since.
I'm not a big fan of the commandline.. Probably why I've used windows for so long(I'm cured now, don't worry).

lol.. people from time to time take this topic out of the grave
Yes, the cli works "better" + you have access to the cli -options like -ffmpeg and -fit (to a discsize).
Actually the cli is not any more difficult. Add your movie(s) and then press the encode button. You'll see a little [SAVE TO SCRIPT] in the bottom right. Save the script, edit out the -menu and then (set permissions to execute) run the .sh
