I like bittornado, its in the repositories as bittornado-gui. Others like azureus, but I think its a resource hog.

Azureus is a ressource hog, but i have plenty of ressource! I still feel it is the best out there. If I remember well, you need to install the version 2.5 from the official webpage though. There are tons of good howto in the forum.

Got WINE?

Get uTorrent. It's a Windows executable, but even uTorrent itself states that it will work on WINE. It says it right there on their download page.

It really is a very small program, memory-footprint wise.

After installing it, for me the next logical step would be to configure it so that it works seamlessly with Firefox. It takes about 1 extra minute to do so, the howto is located here.

If you don't have WINE, I would second DirtDawg's suggestion for rTorrent.

Never heard about Deluge before. Been using Azureus but it's bloated and buggy. However, downloading is fast and for some reason bittorrent has always been very slow for me. Probably due to some faulty configuration from my part but still, I've never gotten it to work properly and therefore been stuck with Azureus. Checking out Deluge now. Looks really good. No java and about half memory usage compared to Azureus. Thanks for the tip.

IMHO the running of Windows applications is best only when there is not a good linux equivalent. Besides Windows applications look awful running with wine.
