Though only a job-offer, this sounds interesting.
Isn't there a portability-Chuck Norris somewhere who could get this position?
Native Valve-games (shudders in anticipation).
Imagine what? More FPS? As if we don't have enough.
Besides, what I see at the link you provided is a standard job advertisement for a _server_ developer. A GNU/Linux server is certainly a good idea for multiplayer FPS games, as so many FPS titles have proven in the past few years. Good luck with having the actual graphic client on GNU/Linux, however. It takes immensely more work to port that than a server, unless the client was produced with portability in mind in the first place. Valve's games are not OpenGL, afaik. It makes no sense for them to port the games, or at least the parts you hope them to.
I don't care if they port all their games. Valve should be banned from every Linux PC! Don't forget this.

I doubt valve will ever port their games. Real HL2 enthusiasts will still buy/play valve games on linux or windows. It's a real pity more game makers don't have the engine and data seperate like ID.

Hoooooly ****
Steven Seagal approve this idea.
If Valve follow through, this can only be good. id have done a lot, but they seem to be the only ones trying to make Linux (mainstream, commercial) gaming happen.
ZylGadis,
Read the 4th bullet point listed under responsibilities.
And it is a sad fact that the market seems to be overly-saturated with FPSs, but they sell. Much like the Madden series (wtf?).
I personally would be much more happy if Blizzard made SC2 happen on Linux.
Not to dull your hope but you do know that
andManage the operation of large clusters of machines running both Windows and Linux in a highly available system.
most likely means that they need someone to make their linuxservers...Port Windows-based games to the Linux platform.
