LMMS? I haven't used garageband so I don't know how it compares, but I've been happy.

    Re: Garageband alternative for linux

I guess you've figured out by now that there is no equivalent to garage band on linux. Garage band has that amazing "it just works" feeling from the mac. As you said - "a ton of samples" - well both jokosher and lmms could be made to be quite similar (except for the notation and midi stuff - to achieve all that in one program in linux there is only rosegarden, but that is much more complicated), but you will have to gather the samples yourself.

Sorry - but that's linux for you: Much choice and you are in control - but the way from starting a program for the first time to producing something might be considerable.

Tagging this thread. I'm getting into a band soon and having a program to help us out would be great.

Thanks for the name drop of Jokosher.

Never heard of it before this post.

Checked it out and installed today. Looks like a nice simple app will give it try and get back.

Our biggest problem is always the one we are experiencing at the moment.

    Re: Garageband alternative for linux

Could there be anything as wine or cedega softwares (for windows on linux) that could make a virtual environement for mac osx softwares tu feel just like at home on a linux box? Like, i have some softwares i would like to try standing in a corner and if i could give garageband a try too, well, that'd be amazing!! I heard sounds coming from this that i havnt ever been able to render however how hard i did with Flstudio.... (guitars and stuff) I mean, i went realy sharp with building flstudio guitar cabs and guitar synths, whitch bashes our hears hard to the ground and again and on and on... But garageband seems to make such instruments withot even applying a single tikle of efforts O_O Now.. I thought that as Flstudio didnt quite yet run any nice on linux... (double the juice needs) (and harshes with directory structures) (and cant install wurchell's asio4all as an audio preprocessor/device either).... So i thought hey lets google garageband and linux!! ... So, yeah.. Any projects starteed, or ready for a watch, that plan on running macs's on linuxes?
