There's a whole lot easier way then that. Just log into Enlightnment & in a terminal type: gnome-panel & It does not give total enlightenment integration but gives you an idea. I think there was another command to add icons to desktop but not sure.

I installed e17 over e16 which seems to have went fine. Only problem is I can't get e17 to work with gnome. I don't have an option for egnome like I did with e16. I redid the file(~/.gnome2/session) again and it didn't work. Should the file be in a different place? or will that not work in e17?

yea i just got it installed but i had to open up a terminal and run e16, i also used the e16menuedit2 from the repository, the only difference i noticed was on one line stared with a 0 and ended with a zero bun in your post it said it started and ended with 1, so i replaced it and yea worked, looks pretty cool, but im fine with the default. nice work,

i am a bit of a noob but i still accomplished this, then reversed every thing and uninstalled it with out a flaw.

I am VERY new to Ubuntu, but am sort of getting the hang of it but I don't understand what to do... I have used a command similar to
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install enlightenment
but when I try this certain command it gives me this response
    Code:
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
Package enlightenment is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package enlightenment has no installation candidate
    What did I do wrong?

The thread you are posting in is over 3 years old and the last post was in 2007. My suggestion would be to start a new thread in Desktop Environments. I think you will probably get a quicker response there.

I am considering posting a new thread, but how often do you get such a detailed instruction manual on how to set up something like this? I almost think it would be better to modify and rewrite the OP updated for the advanced in E17 than to start over with a basic discussion which might only get a few replies.

E17 is now almost stable and ready for its official release, isnt it? Thats what I heard over on OpenGEU.

I really prefer the Gnome controls and menus to Enlightenments....its just easier to use, and I dont care if Nautilus is slow...some of its features I consider essential.

If I could just have the animated backgrounds, mostly the fire and rain, all going on my Gnome desktop with Compiz, I would be a happy customer.

This is a really valuable how-to, though it should probably be updated.

Yes, I just posted about this question, and then found this how-to (which didn't work with Maverick). It would be great to try E17 with GNOME, so if anybody knows how things have changed since 2005 and can do an update, that would be swell.
